NONGPOH: The DSC passed candidates under the umbrella of the Ri Bhoi District Selection Committee Passed Candidate Association (RBDSCPCA) on Saturday threatened to go for an indefinite hunger strike if the government failed to extend the validity date for their appointment to the post of helpers in government institutions.

Out of the 121 candidates who cleared the DSC examination in 2010, 105 have been appointed while the remaining 17 are still waiting for their turn.

The government had earlier extended the validity by three months.

RBDSCPCA president B. Shylla told the The Shillong Times that the Association has demanded the extension of the validity date by another three months as the last extension is coming to an end.

Shylla also alleged that the government is being unfair to the Ri Boi DSC candidates who were allotted only a three-month extension when compared to their counterparts in East and West Khasi Hills who recived a six-month extension in the validity date.
