Kohima: Legislators of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Legislature Party took a number of sweeping decisions concerning the alleged dubious appointments of school teachers in the School Education Department.

According to sources here on Thursday the DAN Legislature Party meeting held yesterday and presided over by the Planning Minister T R Zeliang, had decided to filter sections of teachers who were currently under censure.

The teachers include those probed by the Vigilance Commission’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), those under the purview of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and the third, the ‘aggrieved teachers.’

Mr Zeliang said the legislators directed the School Education Department to submit a number of reports concerning appointments of teachers. “We have asked the (School Education) department to bring the latest report of the SIT; latest reports of the Special Verification Committee and reports on the SSA and RMSA appointments,” he informed. The Commissioner and Secretary and Director and other officials of the Department were also in the meeting. He said, the legislators decided to ask the department to sack the teachers who were probed by the Vigilance Commission’s SIT and found to have used ‘forged signatures’ or appointed without sanctioned post.

“About the aggrieved teachers, he said the department had been asked to examine their case and study whether they were appointed against sanctioned posts or not.

He said the department must initiate action against the appointing authority for appointing them without sanctioned posts.

Chief minister Neiphiu Rio will directly monitor the entire process and progress of the implementation of the directives, the legislator said. (UNI)
