Heroin seized in Mizoram

Aizawl: Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department has seized 83 grams of heroin in Seling village, about 60 km east of Aizawl, and arrested one Myanmarese national.

The Anti Narcotic Squad of the department seized the drug, hidden in six boxes of soap, Excise department’s PRO Peter Zohmingthanga said here last Thursday.

Lal Lu of Tahan in Myanmar was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The contraband, smuggled from Myanmar via the border river Tiau was worth around Rs 3.73 lakh in the local market, Zohmingthanga said. (PTI)
