Shillong: A strong performance by Royal Wahingdoh saw them rout Boys Sports Company 3-0 in their Shillong Premiere League match on Monday. Wahingdoh were leading only by a solitary goal until the 88th minute when substitute Maitshaphrang Nongneng provided a goal followed by Seityasen Singh’s injury time scorcher that resulted in a 3-0 score line.
Earlier, Jackichand did well to put the Royals ahead with a 24th minute conversion in a fast-paced game. Boys Sports keeper Bhabindra Thakur proved resilient, making numerous saves that could have allowed Royal Wahingdoh a larger goal margin in the first half. However, his valiant efforts went in vain as Boys’ attack were unable to find the equaliser. Later, Maitshaphrang headed in an 88th minute cross before Seityasen produced a powerful shot in injury time to beat Bhabindra for a 3-0 victory.
In a Second Division match, Sohryngkham drew 1-1 with Madan at Ground III, Polo Grounds. Sohryngkham took the lead in the 36th minute through W. Kharpran before V. Chhana levelled for Madan with a 53rd minute penalty.
Meanwhile, Lapalang got one better of Mawtawar after C. Bareh and F. Zuala scored a goal each. Bareh scored in the 20th minute before Zuala doubled the scores in the 53rd minute. Mawtawar pulled one back with R. Mukhim finding the back of the nets but that was not enough.
In another Third Division match on Monday, Lumdiengjri and Mylliem drew goalless.
