SHILLONG: For Meghalaya Chief Secretary Barkos Warjri, the flood in the State and the NGT ban on coal mining seems to be a closed chapter if one goes by the version of his messenger.

On Friday some media persons, who wanted to know the status of the flood situation in the State besides the latest from the meeting of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) constituted committee on coal mining were told that the Chief Secretary had nothing to say as far as these queries were concerned.

The information was conveyed by the messenger of the Chief Secretary who had asked the press men to write down their queries so that they could be handed over to the official. But the entire exercise turned futile as the media had to return without getting the required information.

The Chief Secretary apparently had nothing to say on the issues despite the fact that the government is yet to complete the restoration work in the flood affected areas and there is no final word on the coal issue from the PMO as more meetings are in the offing.

Earlier, the Principal Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management, PK Srivastava was approached by the media which sought information on the flood situation. A ‘busy’ Srivastava asked the journos to meet the Chief Secretary.

The Principal Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management was approached by the media since the Deputy Chief Minister in charge revenue and disaster management, RC Laloo was not available.
