Youth booked for raping minor

Fatehgarh Sahib: Police booked a 24-year-old youth for allegedly raping a class V student on Sunday.

On the statement of Jasvir Kaur, mother of the victim, who belongs to the Schedule Caste category, Sirhind police has registered a case against Gurpreet Singh of village Sounda.

The woman, who also hails from the same village, alleged that the accused used to visit her home and on October 10, he visited her house and took her nine-year-old daughter on his bicycle for getting her passport size photograph clicked.

When the girl did not return home, her relatives started a search and heard her cries near canal at village Sounda. When they reached there, they found Gurpreet raping the girl. On seeing them, he fled from the spot.

Police has registered a case against the accused under Section 376, 511 of the IPC. (UNI)
