SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government has refuted the allegations that Assam and Meghalaya have accused each other over the deplorable condition of NH-44.
UNI from Agartala, quoting the Tripura Transport Minister, had said that the respective state governments of Assam and Meghalaya had blamed the drivers for the deplorable condition of NH-44.
However, in a clarification issued here, Chief Secretary P.B.O. Warjri said that a video conference was called recently by the Cabinet Secretary with Chief Secretaries of the North Eastern States of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur along with officials of MORTH and DoNER, relating to the importance of National Highway 44 and the need to keep it in a good condition.
The Government of Meghalaya was represented by the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, PWD, Principal Secretary, Food & Civil Supplies, Secretary, PWD and Chief Engineer, PWD (NH), Warjri informed.
“Throughout the meeting there was no hint of any accusation either by officials of the Government of Meghalaya or the Government of Assam against each other,” the statement said.
