‘Dy CM trying to shift responsibility’

SHILLONG: The pro-ILP pressure groups have reiterated that they are not going to be part of any of the three committees constituted by the State Government to find out a solution to the problem of influx.

“We told the Chief Minister at the very beginning that we are not going to be part with any of the committees,” said KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa while reacting to the statement of the Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh here on Thursday.

“We have officially replied to a letter written by the Deputy Chief Minister explaining our stand on this issue,” Jyrwa said.

The KSU general secretary said that a delegation of pro-ILP groups recently met Lyngdoh to know how much progress the committee led by him has made.

“As per the Deputy Chief Minister, he could not convene any meeting since Transport Minister HDR Lyngdoh, who is a member of the committee, was pre-occupied,” he said.

Jyrwa said that he (Lyngdoh) was trying to shift the responsibilities to the pressure groups since the timeline of two months given to the committee to complete its task has expired.

Meanwhile, KSU general secretary said that the two other committees one headed by Additional DGP SK Jain and another headed by Chief Secretary PBO Wajri have gone ahead with their task.

The Deputy Chief Minister said on Wednesday that the Committee which he is heading has not been able to meet since the pro-ILP groups have refused to participate in the discussions.
