Unesco to create opportunities for Arunachal youths

Itanagar: UNESCO will roll out a pilot project in Arunachal Pradesh soon in the fields of education, HIV/AIDs awareness and Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in collaboration with the state government for benefit of youths with special focus on adolescent population.
Chief of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) India, Dr Alisher Umarov during a meeting with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki recently expressed the willingness of UNESCO to increase the scope of youths for a better future, an official statement here on Friday.
At a time when several UN Agencies are working towards programmes related to vulnerability of youths, Dr Umarov during the meeting elaborated on the themes and projects being implemented by UNESCO all over the world and India. Tuki while welcoming UNESCO to work in Arunachal Pradesh called for a collaborative approach between UN Agencies and the state government to work towards ensuring quality education and awareness programmes to prepare the youth for the 21st century.
The chief minister agreed with the UNESCO officials regarding the need to regularly update the school curriculum by incorporating new developments and studies. (PTI)
