SHILLONG: The State Government has assured transparency while disbursing flood reliefs including cash to the affected families.

As many as 66 persons died in the flash flood and landslides in the state.

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told reporters on Tuesday that the affected families had been identified with proper mechanism and there was no room for any manipulation.

“We have carried out village wise identification of affected people and the names have also been ascertained,” the Chief Minister said. Besides the temporary restoration of areas affected, permanent restoration of areas will be carried out in a transparent manner with proper monitoring, he added.

According to the Chief Minister, the Centre will provide financial assistance after an assessment of the flood-affected areas by an inter-ministerial team.
