64th Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts & Guides celebrated at Raj Bhavan

SHILLONG: Governor K.K. Paul, who is also the Patron of the Bharat Scouts & Guides, presented the Rajya Puraskar to 65 Guides, 43 Scouts and two Teachers (Guide captains) in a solemn ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday on the occasion of the 64th Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts & Guides.

The programme was followed by the inauguration of the Bharat Scouts & Guides Flag by the Governor.

While blessing the gathering, the Governor conveyed his heartiest greetings to all the members of the Bharat Scouts & Guides fraternity.

He stated that the organization has to be dynamic and move with the times in order to meet the expectations of the society as well as to ensure that people were willing to accept their suggestions in a positive manner.

He also reminded the students to follow the basic principle towards preservation of the environment and conservation of energy, and to promote road safety and sanitation campaigns.

He emphasized upon the importance of consciousness in performing their duties with a hope that this will instill in their outlook the real essence expected of each and every Girl Guide and Boy Scout.

Chief Secretary P.B.O. Warjri expressed his pleasure in being named as president of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides and dwelt on the core values and the real essence that is expected of every Girl Guide and Boy Scout while performing their duties and services towards the society and the nation.

He emphasized on the need to maintain behaviour and discipline and the need to equip themselves to work hard and to have the ability to work for the good of others and the nation.

“To do our duties for others is a battle” he added.

While Warjri was inducted as the new president of Bharat Scouts & Guides, P.K. Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Education, and M.S. Rao, Principal Secretary to the Governor, were inducted as vice presidents of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, respectively.
