SHILLONG: In a twist to the Deborah Marak episode, Meghalaya DGP PJP Hanaman has revealed that the FIR filed by Jonathan Sangma, who had contested the 2013 Assembly elections unsuccessfully from Williamnagar as an Independent candidate, did not mention any name.

The statement of Hanaman assumes significance in the wake of Meghalaya police filing charge sheet against Social Welfare Minister Deborah C Marak and former Congress leader Tennydard Marak for hatching a conspiracy with GNLA to win the 2013 elections. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the DGP said that original FIR filed by Sangma on the activities of GNLA in Williamnagar during elections did not have any specific name and it was only during the course of investigation that the police included the names of Deborah Marak and Tennydard.

The East Garo Hills district police chief DNR Marak, who carried out the investigation, examined as many as 24 witnesses before submitting the charge-sheet against the duo, the DGP added.
