New ‘Star Wars’ film gets title

The name of the new ‘Star Wars’ movie has been revealed as ‘The Force Awakens’. The seventh instalment of the sci-fi saga is set about 30 years after the events of ‘Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi’. The film sees a new cast including Daisy Ridley and John Boyega joining original cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, reported BBC online. The announcement was made on the movie’s final day of production at Pinewood Studios. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ will be directed by J J Abrams, who successfully reinvigorated the ‘Star Trek’ movie franchise in 2009, and is due to be released on December 18 2015. Rolling Stones cancel concert due to Jagger’s illness

The Rolling Stones have been forced to cancel their concert here tomorrow after singer Mick Jagger developed a throat infection. Jagger has been advised to rest his vocal chords for the next few days in order to recuperate for the remainder of the tour. “The Rolling Stones are incredibly disappointed to cancel the Hanging Rock gig and to disappoint their fans but were left with no other option,” a spokesperson for the band said. Their next show is in Sydney on November 12, said Frontier touring.com, the promoters behind the concert. (PTI)

Kevin Costner to receive career achievement award

Actor Kevin Costner is all set to receive AARP’s Career Achievement Award, which will be presented as part of the organisation’s annual Movies For Grownups Awards. Costner, 59, who has officially joined the Oscar race this year with his powerful racial drama ‘Black Or White’, will receive the honour on February 2 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The AARP honour, previously bestowed on the likes of Susan Sarandon, Robert Redford, Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone among others. (PTI)
