SHILLONG: Was the Meghalaya DGP PJP Hanaman kept in the dark on the police charge sheet against Cabinet Minister Deborah Marak?.

The fact that the DGP was not intimated in writing about the letter addressed to the State Assembly Speaker AT Mondal regarding the charge-sheet indicates that the DGP was not made aware of the developments.

The copy of the report on the charge-sheet by DNR Marak ,SP, East Garo Hills was not addressed to the DGP whereas it was marked to other police officials — Additional Director General of police (SB) , Inspector General of Police (CID), Inspector General of Police ( headquarters/operations) ad Inspector general of Police (WR), Tura, besides the Deputy Commissioner ( Election) East Garo Hills, Williamnagar.

However, when reporters asked a few days ago whether he was not taken into confidence on the charge sheet filed by East Garo Hills SP, Hanaman denied this and added that SP was very much confident and capable of pursuing the investigation.

He also added that there was no pressure from any quarters while carrying out the investigation.
