New Delhi: Lok Sabha member from Shillong, Vincent H. Pala, on Tuesday returned from London after attending the week-long Chevening CPR Parliamentarians’ Programme held at the Department of War Studies and the India Institute, King’s College there.

The aim of the programme was to expose Indian leaders to the UK’s top opinion formers and decision-makers in a wide range of fields and enable them to build a network of UK-based contacts.

The week-long series of tailor-made sessions focused on leadership, international relations, public policy and tackling key issues of the 21st century that affect both India and Britain, a college release stated.

The objective of the Chevening Parliamentarians’ Programme was to bring together prominent scholars and members of the Department of War Studies and the India Institute at King’s College London who were engaged in discussions regarding key international topics impacting the world, Europe and the UK. It also offered the group of distinguished Indian legislators the best of the UK’s higher education insight and research.

The Indian Parliamentarians met with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and other UK departments, as well as parliament.

Former Union Minister and Tura MP Agatha Sangma had attended the same course last term.
