JSU bandh passes off peacefully

 JOWAI: The JSU-called 24-hour bandh in Jaintia Hills district passed off peacefully on Tuesday with the State government offices recording about 10 per cent attendance.

The JSU called the bandh in protest against the government failure to fulfill its several demands include setting up of MPSC cell, MBoSE cell and a blood bank in the district.

Some untoward incidents like burning of tyres and pelting of stones on vehicles were reported.

Miscreants pelted stones on the vehicle of the senior executive secretary, KJP Synod Mihngi, Rev. BB Lamin. The incident took place at Mukhla when the Pastor was on his way back home from Mookyndur church.

Meanwhile, the JSU has apologised for the incident. “We are so sorry” the JSU said adding that some unknown miscreant took advantages of the bandh.

The JSU also said, “We will continue to fight for our rights and within a couple of days we will again declare further course of action if the government fails to fulfill our demands.”
