Mukul assures to look into four-lane project irregularities

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has assured to look into the concerns regarding the slow pace of work, unscientific execution and other such irregularities aired by the KSU, North Khasi Hills District in the construction of the Jorabat-Umiam expressway.
The assurance came from the Chief Minister during a meeting with members of KSU’s NKH unit and elders from Nongpoh at his office chamber here on Wednesday.
Stating that in most of the road projects, the welfare of pedestrians is not taken into consideration, Sangma said construction of a pedestrian crossing and flyover at Nongpoh and other busy areas would be taken up for inclusion when the fresh DPR is prepared.
Sangma also said that he would direct the Chief Secretary to look into issues raised by the Union and submit a report at the earliest.
Earlier, the KSU, NKH also submitted a memorandum to the CM stating their concerns over the road project.
