SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister in charge PHE department, RC Laloo has assured that the various water supply schemes for Pynthorumkhrah constituency will be completed within March next year.

Laloo made this assurance during a meeting with the representatives of the Dorbar Shnong of Mawpat, Lumshyiap, Pynthorbah and Nongmynsong. The meeting was held at Lumshyiap community hall recently.

“The department has targeted to complete the Mawpat and Nongmynsong water supply schemes along with the combined water supply scheme for Lumshyiap and Pynthorbah within March 2015. I am making this assurance after consultation with my officers,” Laloo said adding that the department is committed to providing uninterrupted water supply to the residents of the four localities.

Meanwhile, local MLA and Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek, who was also present in the meeting, said that the people are eagerly waiting for completion of the schemes.

“I am happy that the department has committed to complete these projects within the first part of next year,” Hek said adding that the commissioning of these water supply schemes will go a long way in resolving the problem of water crisis in the concerned localities.

PHE Chief Engineer SK Sunn informed that the department will bear the expense for laying the distribution pipes to connect the various households under the water supply scheme of Mawpat and Nongmynsong. “The residents of the two localities will only have to pay the connection fees,” Sunn said.
