TURA: The GNLA has strongly refuted police claim that three of its cadres were killed in an encounter at Sesapani under Goalpara District of Assam and termed it as nothing but another fake encounter drama staged by the Indian Army and the Assam Police.

“A few months back, a similar incident took place when two unarmed civilians were killed by the Assam Police and the 19th Dogra Regiment of Indian Army, who were alleged to be GNLA cadres. The most corrupted police department of India (Assam Police) and the Indian Army has been on the killing spree of unarmed tribal people,” the statement issued by the outfit said adding it had been their dirty game to kill innocent Garo, Bodo and Rabha youths and later brand them as militants, ultras and extremists.

Issuing a strong warning not to treat its silence as weakness the outfit warned that it would not remain as mute spectators to repeated brutality on the part of the Assam police.

“We strongly condemn this cowardly act by the Indian Army and the Assam Police. Their gallantry and heroism shines bright only through brutal fake encounters and rape of women under the umbrella of AFSPA. We will not remain silent for long,” joint publicity secretary of GNLA, Garo Mandei Ch Marak, warned.
