Guwahati: Senior BJP leader and MP, Dr Subra-maniam Swamy on Saturday said here that illegal migration from Bangladesh to Assam and other parts of India could be stopped only when Bangladesh was made to feel the ‘heat of India’ so that it stopped encouraging migration of its people to India.
Talking to media , Dr Swamy said deportation of illegal Bangladeshi migra-tion was not taking place anywhere in India because it was a very difficult task and not possible without cooperation from Bangla-desh.
The only way left is to make Bangladesh stop encouraging migration of people from their country. Retaliatory actions have to be taken to make Bangla-desh fall in line in respect of discouraging illegal migra-tion from that country.
Dr Swami commented that Assam Accord which was signed on August 15, 1985, as a culmination of Assam Agitation , had become outdated in respect of provisions on detection and deportation of illegal migrants from Bangladesh.
He, therefore, underlined the need for a new accord or amendment to Assam Accord incorporating provisions for punitive action against Bangladesh government for failing to discouraging infiltration from that country.
Meanwhile, influential All Assam Studen==ts Union (AASU) on Saturday staged a massive satya-graha and rally in Guwahati in coordination with organizations of indigenous Muslims demanding a deadline from Narendra Modi government to deport illegal Bangladeshi migrants from Assam as well as uprooting of jihadi elements from Assam.
On possibility of bringing back black money to India, Dr Swamy said the cooperation from G-20 countries were essential in this regard and hoped that Modi government would be able to elicit effective cooperation from G-20countries in this regard in the wake of Prime minister Narendra Modi seeking cooperation from those countries in this regard.
