Kohima: Hectic prepara-tions are on to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his maiden visit to Nagaland to grace the Hornbill Festival and the Nagaland Statehood Day at the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama, 12 Kms east of Kohima.
Official sources said Chief Minister T R Zeliang, accompanied by Cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary Toshi Aier and other bureau-crats, district administra-tion and police officials, on Saturday visited Dimapur Airport and Chu-mukedima police complex, to inspect and review prepa-rations for the high profile visitor.
The Airport Authority of India at Dimapur, CISF and police officials briefed the Chief Minister on arrange-ments including night landing facility (ILS) and security aspects.
The Prime Minister’s chartered Boeing 737 is tentatively expected to land at Dimapur Airport on November 30 at around 4.00 to 4.30 PM.
Later, Mr Zeliang also visited Chumukedima Police Complex where the Prime Minister is likely to halt for a night in November 30 at ‘Police Guest House’ before procee-ding to Kohima next day early morning to inaugurate the Hornbill Festival and the Nagaland Statehood Day.
After the inspection, Mr Zeliang told media persons that the State is ready to host the Prime Minister and expressed satisfaction with the preparations. He hoped that Modi would have a memorable stay as the environment is different from metropolitan cities.
When asked whether Modi would fly by chopper or travel by road to Kohima in the event he chose to halt November 30 night in Dimapur, Zeliang said it was upto the Prime Minister.
During the inspections Mr Zeliang was accom-panied by Minister for Power C Kipili Sangtam, Parliamentary Secretary N Jacob Zhimomi, Chief Secretary Toshi Aier, Principal Secretary Temjen Toy, Secretary for IPR N Hushili Sema, Deputy Commis-sioner of Dimapur Wetsope Kenya, Dimapur SP Meren Jamir and host of Government and other officials.
