SHILLONG: In the context of rise in cases of racial discrimination, UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday raised in Assembly the killing of Banker Passah (23), a medical student from Jowai in Karnataka in September this year.
During the Question Hour, Lyngdoh also wanted to know what steps the government had taken on the killing of the youth and added he was a victim of racial attack.
It was on September 22 that Passah hailing from Jowai and a final year final year BHMS student, was allegedly murdered by miscreants at Dharwad, Karnataka.
Lyngdoh also sought a response from the Government on the number of Meghalaya students assaulted and killed in metropolitan cities.
In reply, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the answer was not readily available with him.
Replying to supplementary questions, the Chief Minister failed to provide any details into the killing of the Jowai youth in Karnataka other than saying that the matter was taken up with his Karnataka counterpart.
James Sangma (NPP) asked the Chief Minister not to dodge the question raised by Lyngdoh as it will show the indifference of the Government.
