JOWAI: Jaintia Hills- based pressure groups including Jaintia Students’ Movement (JSM), Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) East Jaintia Zone and Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) have registered a complaint with Deputy Chief Minister in charge Education Department, R.C. Laloo, against the proposal to set up a residential school at Byndihati village in East Jaintia Hills.

Earlier, members of the three organizations had registered a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner, who, according to the pressure groups, was reluctant to take up the matter.

In a press release issued here on Wednesday, the three groups stated that the location for setting up of the residential school was not ideal.

“Byndihati is located along the National Highway and is not even one km from the district headquarter- Khliehriat.

“Byndihati is already equipped with many missionary, private and government schools,” the released stated, adding that the residential school should be set up at a location which will cover remote villages such as Mookhaialong, Lumshyrmit, Cham Cham, Mutong, Pynthorsale, Moolamanoh, Mulang, Musniang, Musniangrim, Rangad, Moonongtdu, Lumputhoi and Iongkalooh.
