Protest
Shillong Municipal Board employees on Thursday picketed the Board office and stalled the work in protest against non-payment of their salaries since September. They also threatened to keep garbage carrying vehicles off the road on Friday.
Function
The concluding function of the year-long silver jubilee celebration of Khasi news daily Mawphor to be held at U Soso Tham Auditorium, on Saturday has been rescheduled to start at 12 noon. Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest while Shillong North legislator Roshan Warjri will be the Chief Guest.
Competition
Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, is holding its 5th State Level Painting Competition on the theme ‘Save a Drop, Save the Future’ at Anton Hall, Laitumkhrah, on November 29. 50 students, whose paintings were selected from 3789 paintings from 122 schools from all over Meghalaya in the School Level Painting Competition conducted during September-October, will participate in this competition. The winners of the first, second and third prize will be invited to participate in the National Painting Competition, to be organized in New Delhi in December.
