Arunachal governor stress on expediting road construction

Itanagar:Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today called upon the road construction agencies to accelerate road construction process in the border state.
During a meeting with the representatives of PWD, Border Road Organisation (BRO) and Ministry of Road Transport & Highway (MoRTH) at Raj Bhawan here, the governor stressed on the importance of roads in development and progress of the state and emphasised in addressing the impediments in its implementation at the earliest.
Sharma said it was the duty of every one to facilitate in the construction of these roads, a Raj Bhawan release said. He called for better coordination among the district administration, BRO and PWD for expediting the project work. He also advised for regular meetings.
Sharma suggested for entrepreneurship among the local people in supply of raw materials for construction of road. He said if they were involved in the construction process, the stake of local people would increase in the project. He also emphasised on capacity building of local people. The governor asked the three agencies to make a working plan for road construction in the next five years and chart their programme accordingly.
PWD commissioner Tajom Taloh, ADG, Border Roads (East) Maj Gen Uma Shanskar Dadu and U K Shambhakar from the MoRTH were present in the meeting among other, the communiqué added. (PTI)
