TURA: The five police personnel who sustained injuries in the IED blast at Rongrakgre village were initially rushed to Chokpot health centre, 10 kms away, but there were allegedly no doctors present to look into their condition and administer the necessary medical treatment, it was reported.
“There was not a single doctor at the health centre when our injured jawans were brought in. All four doctors were on leave,” revealed police.
The injured personnel were reportedly administered first aid by a pharmacist and a staff nurse, in the absence of any medical doctor, before they were shifted to Tura.
To make matters worse, police sources revealed that there was a shortage of ambulances at the initial stages and only two of the seriously injured were able to get transported to the Tura Civil Hospital.
Medical sources have revealed that the four MBBS doctors posted at Chokpot health centre had taken leave to appear for an online All India Medical Post Graduate Entrance Examination from December 1-6 at Guwahati.
No replacement was allegedly put in place for Chokpot during the time of their absence.
