Trekking
A trek is being conducted by NCC Group Shillong at Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), Laitkor, from December 10-17. Around 500 NCC Cadets from all over India are participating in the trekking to selected routes. During their stay in Shillong the cadets will get an opportunity to visit Don Bosco Museum and various other places of interest.
Cleaning drives
The Laban Dorbar Shnong will organize a cleaning drive as part of the Clean India Campaign on December 18 on the occasion of the death anniversary of U Soso Tham from 8 am. Entry of vehicles will been restricted in the locality during the cleaning drive.
The Dorbar Jaiaw Langsning will conduct a cleaning drive on December 18 from 7 am till evening.
Condolence
Members of Matri Mandir, Polo, condoled the demise of Hironmoy Dhar, a member of the Mandir, who breathed his last on December 7 at Shillong. The members observed two minutes silence and offered prayers for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Election
The Jail Road Welfare Committee elected Prosenjit Dey as headman cum chairman of the committee while Dhruva Chowdhury is the deputy chairman. Pinaki Das has been elected as general secretary while Bhakti Kishore Bhattacharjee has been elected as treasurer.
Passing out
The passing out parade of the 1st batch of UB Recruit constables will be held at the 6th Battalion Training Centre at Umran (Niangbyrnai) on December 19 at 11:30am. DGP P.J.P. Hanaman will review the parade.
Music fest
Cacti 360 group will organize the ‘Shine a Light’ Music Festival on December 13-14 at Sa-i-Mika Resort, Sohra. The event would feature 17 bands from the North East performing. Other activities will include paint ball and archery.
Programme
The NSS Unit of Laban Bengalee Boy’s Higher Secondary School organized a garbage management programme on Thursday on the school premises which was inaugurated by Karmo Noronho, Director, Bethany Society, as a part of the Swachh Bharat campaign.
Blood donation
A blood donation camp was organised at Barengapara, Dalu, by members of the Netaji Sangha Club as part of its upcoming golden jubilee celebrations. 52 volunteers came forward to donate their blood. The club is also organizing a series of events from January 23 to mark the jubilee celebration.
Dry days
In view of the ongoing A·we Winter Festival, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), North Garo Hills, has declared dry days on December 12 and 13 the entire district. All IMFL retail shops including bonded warehouses in the district will remain closed on both days.
