2 Scouts, 4 Guides felicitated in city

Shillong: The Megha-laya Bharat Scouts and Guides on Friday felicitated 2 Scouts and 4 Guides of Meghalaya chapter who received President’s medal for their dedicated and meritorious services towards the society.

President Pratibha Patil at a glittering function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 23 last had given away a certificate and a badge to the each of six members of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides.

They are Kevililie Soukhrie, and Ronit Mishra (both scouts) from Assam Rifles Public School, Bannylla Wanniang, Philawanda Basaiawmoit, Emika Rani and Mebarihun Marpna (all guides) from KJP Higher Secondary School.

Addressing the gathering, the State Secretary, Bharat Scouts and Guides, A Swer called upon the students to get themselves associated with NSS the NCC as well as the Bharat Scouts and Guides saying “such movement is beneficial not only for the particular student but also for the State as well as the nation as a whole”.

Dr Ashrafi Begum, a retired teacher of St Mary’s College and also a founder member of Bharat Scouts and Guides, was also awarded with a silver star for her distinguished services towards the movement. Dr Begum at present is serving as a Guide Commissioner.
