Avatar director James Cameron and ‘Gravity’ helmer Alfonso Cuaron have prais-ed Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Hollywood debut ‘Broken Horses’, calling it an “aritis-tic triumph driven by love”.
The film, set to release on April 10, next year, was screened for the two directors. ‘Broken Horses’ marks the first time an Indian filmmaker has written, produced and directed a mainstream Hollywood film. Fox Star Studios is distributing and marketing the film in India.
“Broken Horses is an artistic triumph. Beautifully written, acted and imaged, this film wraps slowly around you like a king snake and squeezes,” said Cameron. While Cuaron said he was overwhelmed by the film.
“Broken Horses overwhelmed me. The greatness of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s films comes from the act that all his characters are driven by love.”
The teaser trailer of the film released with Chopra’s latest production venture ‘PK’.Chopra has previously directed and produced films like ‘Parinda’, ‘1942: A Love Story’, ‘Parineeta’, ‘Mission Kashmir’, ‘3 idiots’ and the ‘Munnabhai’ series. The story of ‘Broken Horses’ is set in the shadows of the US–Mexico border gang wars. The thriller is about the bonds of brotherhood, the laws of loyalty, and the futility of violence.
‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ writer Abhijat Joshi has penned the script of ‘Broken Horses’ with Chopra. The film has an international star cast in ‘Full Metal Jacket’ star Vincent D’Onofrio, ‘Star Trek’ actor Anton Yelchin, Chris Marquette and Maria Valverde. (PTI)
