Shillong: The CSWO had condemned the actions of one Salim Laskar, who poured hot water over his stepdaughter. Newanki Langbah, 15, of Newhill (Loom Sooiung) was seriously injured when her stepfather allegedly tried to kill her by pouring hot water on her bodyon Sunday. In a press release, CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing said there are many such crimes perpetrated on innocent girls and sadly the culprits are let off on bail in just a few days, leading to increase in violence against women and children, as the criminal feels they are protected even if he is a habitual offender. The organisation has demanded strict action be taken as per the law.
