Rs 2.60 cr earmarked for widening of roads at Mawlai

 SHILLONG: MLA of Mawlai Constituency, FS Cajee inaugurated the foundation stones at Mawlai Phudmuri and Mawlai Mawroh for widening the roads in these two areas connecting different localities of Mawlai.

It was mentioned that the roads will be widened right from Lad Jingthang Briew, Phudmuri till Stand Bus, Mawdatbaki, and also connecting the road from Stephan Memorial School, Mawroh with Kynton Massar and the road leading to NEHU.

It was mentioned that around Rs 2.60 crores is earmarked for this project which falls under the SPA Scheme 2010-2011 of the Planning Department, Government of India.

Addressing a gathering, Cajee said through the SPA Scheme, he will be able to complete this project in a short span of time failing to divulge the appropriate year and month.

Rangbah Shnong of Mawlai Phudmuri, Dolphin Lyngkot lauded the generosity of the residents of his area who willingly signed the notification with the locality to part with their lands for this purpose.

“The widening of the narrow roads will ease the traffic and also prevent the frequent accidents”, added Lyngkot.

Meanwhile, Mawlai Mawroh Rangbah Shnong, AS Lyngdoh Nongpyiur expressed his happiness over this initiative taken citing that the area near Stephan Memorial School is now becoming more and more crowded and connecting this road with Kynton Massar will ease the burden of the people especially the students who wish to go to NEHU as they have to go all the way through Mawdatbaki to reach their destination.
