Meet on Solar City held at Dimapur

KOHIMA: The first stake holder’s meeting for the development of Solar City cell in Dimapur, sponsored by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy New Delhi and organised by Department of New and Renewable Energy Nagaland, was held at Dimapur on Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting, the Director of New and Renewable Energy (RNE) T S Angami said the deptt was working to provide power back-up system to all the directorates in Kohima, the project for which has been awarded to two firms from Kolkata and Bangalore. He said Solar City implied the usage of all types of renewable energy. The first project to be taken up in Kohima is to provide Solar Street Lights. On the Solar Water Heater, he said Kohima has the highest demand for Solar Water as it was helpful in cold areas. He encouraged the use of Solar Water Heater stating that the consumers would be paying one fourth of the actual cost.
