Assam bye-election to be held on November 19: Poll panel

GUWAHATI: The Election Commission of India has announced that by-elections to 14-Lakhimpur Parliamentary Constituency and 20-Baithalangso (ST) Assembly Constituency in Assam will be held on November 19.
The Gazette notification in this regard will be published on October 26 and the last date for filing of nomination will be on November 2. The date for scrutiny of nomination is November 3. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is November 5.The date of poll for the bye-election is November 19 and the date for counting is November 22. The date before which the election process shall be completed is November 24.
It is stated by the EC that the electoral rolls for all the states has been published.
Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter. However, in order to ensure that no voter is deprived of his/her franchise, if his/her name figures in the Electoral Rolls, separate instructions will be issued to allow additional documents for identification at the time of poll.
The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the districts.
