NONGSTOIN: A 39-year-old man from Aizawl drowned in the Nongbah river here on Monday.
The man was identified as David Zonunsanga of Ramhlun in North Aizawl. Witnesses said David was swimming and was near the shore when he “suddenly got tired and drowned”. The incident occurred around 5.30pm.
One of the persons working near the river tried to save him but the water was deep. So he called for help and informed police.
David was visiting his brother who works in the SP office in Nongstoin.
The Fire and Emergency Services later fished out his body.
After a request from family members in Nongstoin for exemption from post mortem, the body was handed over to them.
