CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing seriously injured in attack

SHILLONG: Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) president, Agnes Kharshiing and  with another member of the group Anita Sangma were attacked by unidentified miscreants on Thursday afternoon in East Jaintia Hills and brought  to NEIGRIHMS in a critical condition

Kharshiing was heading  a campaigned against the coal mafia in the region and she was attacked with her colleague in Tuber Sohshrieh in East Jaintia Hills

The incident happened a day after Kharshiing lodged a complaint about coal-laden trucks parked at Mawiong rim in Shillong, which were later seized by the police

The CSWO president had gone to Tuber to follow up on the November 7 incident at Mawiong rim. She along with another member, A Sangma were attacked and dragged and left in a jungle. It was informed that Sangma managed to crawl her way to the road and sought for help.

As per the referral slip of Jowai Civil Hospital, Kharshiing sustained  head injuries, two cut injuries, skull bone deep upto  7-9 cms in the scalp and she was profusely bleeding

Her General condition was conscious but too weak to speak
