Deen Dayal scheme to be completed on time

SHILLONG: Power Minister James Sangma said work under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDU GJY) is in full swing and is expected to meet the deadline.
He was replying to a supplementary query raised by Congress MLA George Lyngdoh on the steps taken to expedite the coverage of the scheme to ensure that work is completed before the target date.
Sangma replied that the targeted date for completion of the projects under DDUGJY Phase-I, which include village electrification and intensification revised for covering all households, and another project under DDUGJY Phase-II is March 31. The strengthening of DDUGJY Phase-II is June 30 and system metering is in the final tendering stage. It will be completed within six months from the date of awarding the project. Electrification using solar lights has already been completed last December.
