Mob torches vehicle with illegal timber

TURA: An angry mob attacked a vehicle carrying illegal timber and set it ablaze near Rongjeng Reserve in East Garo Hills on Thursday to protest against rampant illegal felling of timber in Garo Hills .
According to reports, locals spotted a vehicle moving suspiciously near the Rongjeng Reserve. They stopped the vehicle near PWD office under Rongjeng police station.
They were bringing timber from Dambo Rongjeng Reserve in a car, specially modified for this purpose.
Upon seeing the angry crowd, the driver ran for his life. The unidentified villagers then burnt the car with the timber inside, informed a local.
