Mawkyrwat: The Health Department has issued a notification that the villages falling under the Mawpud Sub-Centre, Ranikor CHC should be included in the Rangthong PHC in South West Khasi Hills District.
In a letter to the District Medical & Health Officer, Mawkyrwat and Medical Officer in-charge of the Rangthong PHC, the Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo informed that according to the letter received from the Director of Health Services (MI), Shillong, there is no objection for inclusion of villages falling under Mawpud Sub-Centre, Ranikor CHC to the Rangthong PHC.
“Therefore, you are requested to take action with intimation to the undersigned on the matter to ensure the linking of beneficiaries from Mawpud Sub-Centre to Rangthong PHC,” Laloo said in the letter.
It may be mentioned that the KSU Nongkynbah Area Unit had on October 2018 demanded to include villages like Sarin, Nongpdengkynbah and Nongkynbah from the Health Department, which falls under Mawpud Sub-Centre to the Rangthong PHC since Mawpud is too far to reach especially that they have to walk as there are no roads. The Union said that the people of these villages have faced a lot of problems as they have to walk 3-4 hours to reach Mawpud Sub-Centre.
Therefore, the Union had demanded from the Health Department that as the government has excluded these villages from the Ranikor Civil Sub Division because of the distance, they should also be excluded from the Ranikor CHC and included under the Rangthong PHC which is only about 15 KMs away.
