TURA: South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S kicked off the celebration of Poshan Maah or Nutrition Month in the district at a remote Anganwadi Centre of Chelapara under Zikzak Block on Sunday morning.
BDO of Zikzak C&RD Block, M L K Marak, Supply Inspector Ampati Salchra N. Sangma, ICDS officials, officials of SBM(G) Ampati and MSRLS and over 100 people including women and children, SHGs, Swachhgrahis, Anganwadi workers and Poshan Abhiyan staff of Ampati were present during the launch.
As part of the Poshan Maah, various activities and programmes have been chalked out to be conducted at block and village levels throughout the month.
In his brief address, the Deputy Commissioner spoke about the importance of nutrition and intake of nutritious food to reduce stunting and improve brain development in children.
BDO Zikzak M L K Marak also spoke on the occasion, while Anganwadi workers of Chelapara AWC demonstrated proper hand washing methods.
