NONGTALANG/WILLIAMNAGAR: As many as 300 students graduated a training programme under the ‘Aspire Meghalaya’ programme.
The students of Nontalang Government Secondary School and Nongtalang College, West Jaintia Hills, gathered to celebrate their graduation after a combined two-and-a-half-week training.
The ‘Aspire Meghalaya’, which aims at the development of the personal and professional lives of the state’s youth, has been implemented in different campuses with the effort of Avenues, headquartered in Shillong.
‘Aspire Meghalaya’ is a one-of-its-kind programme that has never before been conducted in an area as remote as Nongtalang and for the students who participated, it was quite an eye-opening experience.
Participants were taken through an intensive 24-hour curriculum focused on improving confidence and mindsets, building emotional awareness, and fine-tuning communication skills for the world of work. Every student was asked to identify a career aspiration and a talent that they would like to pursue and the programme aimed at supporting their progression.
A number of students spoke about how much of a positive impact the programme has had on their lives.
The graduation ceremony concluded with the students singing the theme song of the programme, ‘Song of Survival’.
