While informing this, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem appealed to all the people of Nongpoh and its adjoining areas and Ri Bhoi as a whole, including the village headmen, Seng Samla, Seng Longkmie, church leaders and NGOs, to be on high alert and follow the government advisory and protocols such as staying at home and maintaining social distance, strictly.
“We understand the people are facing problems and hardships, but we have to fight this together. I appeal to all public to remain calm and not panic, as this situation needs to be dealt with wisely and steadily,” the MLA said. He also requested the headmen of all villages to make sure that the residents of their villages stay in their homes.
As for the staff of Bethany Hospital Outreach, Nongpoh and their family members, Syiem strongly stressed on them to stay at home while putting themselves under self-quarantine and reporting by calling the helpline number 108 or 1070.
For patients who have visited the hospital including its OPD section on or after March 30, the MLA asked them to stay at home and get their names registered either by calling 108 or 1070 or by visiting the website www.meghalayaonline. gov.in.covid. “For the stranded patients of the hospital, we are trying to help them as much as we can. I appeal to the family members that they should remain calm as their concerned ones are being taken care of. All necessary arrangements have been made and essential food items like rice, lentils, potato, oil, etc., have been delivered to the hospital authority,” he said.
