Nongthymmai to face Malki in final

SHILLONG: Nongthymmai SCC defeated Madanryting SCC by a comprehensive margin of 54 runs in the second semifinal of the Shillong Cricket League First Division, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Grounds.

Nongthymmai won the toss and elected to bat, which seemed to augur well for them as they scored at nearly five runs an over to put up a score of 167 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 35 overs.

Wanlam Lyngwa scored a scintillating 88 off 107 deliveries and Wallam Nongkhlaw scored a more patient 34 off 62, while Abhay took 2-21 in seven overs.

In reply, Madanryting lost early wickets and were unable to recover, ending with a score of 113 all out in 25.4 overs.

Andrew top-scored with 31 off 43 balls while Jiten took 3-23 and Andrew Ropmay took 3-19 to emerge as the best of the bowlers.

With this win, Nongthymmai have qualified for next season’s Super Division and the final of the First Division will be played on Monday against Malki SCC.

Helping Hands beat Pinewood

Meanwhile, in the second division, Helping Hands defeated Pinewood by four wickets.

In their 20-over match, Pinewood CC put up a total of 139 for the loss of two wickets in their full quota of overs.

Gopal Sunar made a half-century, finishing on 54 off 36 balls and Surat fell two runs short of a fifty.

In reply, Helping Hands CC pollished off the target in 17.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Sanjay made the bulk of the runs, scoring a rollicking 81 off 61 balls.
