The Raid Laban Dorbar the apex local body for Laban has decided to mve the Home Minister, Mr D D Lapang for the removal of “teer” gambling stalls in the area.

It has been decided to submit a memorandum to the Minister seeking this intervention in the matter in view of social problems arising out of it. It is stated that most of the stalls are either situated near educational institution of near places of worship.

Meanwhile, the “Dorbar Shnong” of Madan Laban Raid Laban, Kench’s Trace etc. in its general meeting held on May 12 has expressed its great concern over the indiscriminate felling of trees at the catchment areas. It recalled that the suggestion for posting forest guards at the Raid Forest area had not been complied with by the Forest Department.

The Durbar has expressed its satisfaction over the performance and attitude of the Town Planning Department and PWD. It has decided to move the Town Planning Department for removal of slums and unauthorized structures along the Kenchs’ Trace road, besides setting up of a community hall-cum-recreation centre at Madan Laban.

The Durbar re-elected Mr Phinton Mylliem as the Rangbah Shnong (headman) for another three-year term.
