State Bank of India has drawn up plans for launching an Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) in the Union Territory of Mizoram during 1984. The aim of the programme is to develop latent entrepreneurial talent in a few selected candidates with a view to speeding up industrialization of this industrially backward territory.

While technical background among the prospective candidates would be preferable, the minimum educational qualification has been kept at School Leaving Certificate only.

The present EDP would cover all the 3 districts of Mizoram and it is expected that at least 20 youth would be trained under the programme. While the standard maximum age of candidates should not be more than 35 years, a relaxation upto 5 years has been allowed for SC/ST Candidates.

Earlier in 1981, SBI had conducted EDP for Aizawl district only in which 12 youth were trained for taking up industrial activities.
