TURA: Despite this year’s poor board examination results in Garo Hills there is something to cheer about in the CBSE board wherein a young boy from a remote rural area has become a regional topper of Shillong Region.

Jericko N Sangma from Mahendraganj’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in West Garo Hills topped this year’s AISSCE-2011 (Science) Class XII from the Vidyalaya and NVS Shillong Region with an aggregate of 95 per cent scoring a magical mark of 96% each in all the five major subjects- English, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.

He hails from a remote village that is only 2 kms from the Bangladesh border and 90 km away from the district headquarters of Tura. He is the son of Perline N Sangma and Dorick Malngiang.
