Shillong: Having received several complaints from its consumers about lack of connectivity and network in the rural areas, Bharti Airtel Mobile Services Operations Director-East, Raghunath Mandava on Wednesday said there are around 200 towers in Meghalaya which need power supply continuously to operate which the State could not provide.

“For this we have to use the UPS, generators, batteries to consume power and have improved the DG batteries to tackle this problem”, said Mandava adding that the continuous expansion of roads and national highway led to a cutting down of the connectivity fiber thus affecting connectivity.

Stating this at the launching of Airtel 3G service here in city on Wednesday, Mandava said the present usage of long duration battery in the whole of North East would ensure good network and connectivity in the rural areas as well.

Demonstrating to use the 3G service, the first live video call in Shillong was made to Governor RS Mooshahary who congratulated them and wished them luck in their future endeavors.
