SHILLONG: An infant with a congenital heart ailment, born to an under-privileged family, has found a new lease of life, thanks to the good samaritans like Rotarians who helped the child through their “Heart to Heart Project”.

Md Ayan Qureshi, the three-year old child had a hole in the heart. Surgical intervention which was the only way out was out of the reach of his poor parents of Jhalupara here.

Talking to this scribe, the father of the child Md Ayaz said, “It was God who saved the life of my child.” He thanked the Mawprem MLA Manas Chaudhuri, Rotary Club president Dr Debashish Das besides other people who extended help to the family for the “rebirth” of the child, who will soon celebrate his fourth birthday.

Under Rotary’s Heart to Heart Project Ayan was taken to Durgapur where surgeons performed the correction with all expenses paid for.
