JOWAI: The Relic of St. John Bosco was brought to Mowkyndeng Parish in Mowkyndeng village in Jaintia Hills on Thursday where it was honoured by thousands people from across the district.
The Mowkyndeng Parish — the first Catholic Church in Jaintia Hills — received the sacred remains of Don Bosco in Raliang village and a procession march was organized from Raliang to Mowkyndeng Parish where the relic was kept for public honour and veneration.
Thousands of people including students flocked to Mowkyndeng Parish to honour the relic which includes the wax statues and sacred remains of tissue and bone from the right hand of St. John Bosco.
Union Minister of State for Water Resources Vincent H Pala, Minister in-charge Supply Ampareen Lyngdoh, Shanpung MLA Coming-One Ymbom, Nartiang MLA ECB Bamon, Former CEM Hambertus Nongtdu and other JHADC MDCs also paid their tributes to St. John Bosco, besides thousands of members of the Roman Catholic Church from across Jaintia Hills.
The occasion was solemnized by the presence of the Bishop Jowai Diocese Rev. Fr. Vincent Kympat who conducted the Holy Eucharist. Other priests and Parish priest from various parts of Jaintia Hills and nuns of the Catholic Church in Jaintia Hills were also present.
From Jaintia Hills, the relic will be taken to Silchar on Saturday morning and it will be again brought back to Khliehriat Parish.
