The Shillong Road Side Hawker’s Association has elected new executive committee for the year 2011 to 2013 with Minister for Water Resources AL Hek as the president. The general body meeting to elect new office-bearers was held on Sunday. The new office-bearers are Manas Chaudhuri, MLA, advisor, Sudip Deb, vice-president, Sharif Ahmed, working president, D Suiam general secretary, Jayanta Sen, assistant secretary, Johnny Nongsiej organisation secretary, John Myrthong, publicity secretary, SJ Mandal, legal advisor, Jhantu Dey, treasurer and Kamal Das, accountant.

Van Mahotsav

The NSS units of St.Edmund’s College and Seng Khasi College in collaboration with the Dorbar Shnong Mylliem Marbaniang, Lafarge Umiam Ltd and the Department of Social Forestry, Govt of Meghalaya are organizing Van Mahotsav at Mylliem Marbaniang on Saturday.

Vehicle stolen

Unidentified miscreants stole one vehicle (ML 05 G 0155) from Zigzag road, near the gate of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, here on Monday. The vehicle belonged to one BS Marbaniang and an FIR has been lodged with the Rilbong Police Station.

Shop owner held

The KSU’s Mawkhar and Jaiaw units on Tuesday nabbed one Subroto Dey, a owner of a shop in Glory’s Plaza, Police Bazaar, after he was found downloading and uplo-ading pornographic videos to the customers’ cellphones. Dey was involved in piracy business and it was alleged that he downloaded Khasi songs to sell them illegally.

The KSU members later closed his shop down.
