Ailing Goswami returns to city

GUWAHATI:Eminent litterateur Mamoni Raisom Goswami was on Thursday flown back to Guwahati from New Delhi after undergoing treatment at a Gurgaon hospital for severe cerebral damage.

Dr Goswami was flown in a regular flight of a commercial airline early this morning from the nation capital.

She was accompanied by doctors from Medanta Medicity hospital in Gurgaon, where she was admitted, and a doctor-nurse team of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here who had flown to escort back the litterateur.

The ailing writer was directly driven to the GMCH, where a special cabin had been readied for treatment.

Doctors attending to Dr Goswami said her condition was stable and though she continued to be in coma, her condition has improved since being taken to Gurgaon in the later half of February.Dr Goswami was admitted to the GMCH on February 13 after complaining of respiratory problems.

The 68-year-old author was airlifted to New Delhi for improved treatment and a team of doctors and nurses of GMCH has been trained in Medanta Medicity to take care of Dr Goswami. (UNI)
